How can I get my HD video camera night vision?
I have this Sony HDR-TG1 (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HDR-TG1-Definition-Handycam-Camcorder/dp/B0017008HC/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1243731908&sr=8-14) if Deputy infrared light in it, does that allow me to capture a video night vision? Thanks in advance!
Quite. What application 're looking for? You already discovered that the camera is the vision of the night. Your camera is sensitive to infrared light and capture. Prove it, turn it on and register himself holding the TV remote. Press the buttons on the remote control. Play and see what you can see the flickering light of the distance. The camera can see IR light, but his eyes can not. His night vision camera is ready. To turn it into a night vision camera, you may want to use in the dark, without visible * * Source of light. Therefore, you will need a point of infrared light. The size and strength (brightness) of the spot light is based on where they are using. If you are only taking pictures in a small room, he need not be so great. If you want to see what your dog is doing in the backyard at night, you may need something much bigger. On television, when you see night vision images are always a great spot of infrared light. You just cannot see this light with the eyes. But you note that images can see the shadows, therefore, a spot light or two is used. You can search lights go on the Internet. LEDs are available that are great for shorter distances upto such a meter. You can also use infrared filters placed on the normal lights. Cheaper, but you will see a red light under these lights and will not be invisible. I do not know where to get them, sorry. Research infrared filters. This is what they are using in the jungle, taking photos of night vision. Animals care if there's a bit of a red glow coming from something. The lights that are purely IR are the only likely will be only the variety of LED, as they have a narrow-band spectrum of light. Ligths bright lights are incandescent (filiment burning inside a glass tube), which have a broad spectrum, and filters are used to reduce the spectrum, but filters are not perfect, therefore, the red glow from them. Interestingly, a heat source can used as infrared light. Although very inefficient. If you have and electric room heater, electric or hot dishes on the stove, turning on, turn off the light, turn the camera, and you will illuminate the room. However, most of the energy consumed is the heat and not light.

Multi-Camera HIGH DEFINITION
On March 26 I directed our first multi HDCAM camera work with six video cameras Sony HDW-F900. It was a great experience that brought to light several things you should consider if you do similar work.
First, some details. We filmed two performances by stand up comedian Omid Djalili at the London Palladium. The production company that hired us Procam has used before shooting performances by comedian Ross Noble and other comic acts. The end use will be for a DVD release and possible TV broadcast.
We were asked to use F900s because the company wanted the best quality images possible HDCAM. And, of course, shooting in HDCAM increases the opportunity for international sales. After speak with experts Paul Wheeler HD, we chose to shoot in 50i, to interlace used for television broadcasting in the UK and Europe (PAL). Paul suggested this to get more of a look that living with a progressive scan settings (see the movie) would achieve. (A previous E-Zine covered the difference between configuration progressive and interlaced scanning).
Downconverters
Using the F900 downconverters meant having to put in the back of each chamber. This is because the F900 HDCAM only has one component. To effectively address the shooting had to see images from all six cameras in a gallery base we have created between racks. Using the camera's components (RGB) production requires three cables from each camera surveillance to our backstage set-up much more of a hassle and expense of doing so with a single BNC each Downconverter using the HD SDI output. Additionally, camera operators needed to use the output from the HD camera feed components for the 7-inch high definition LCD monitors mounted on your camera have handles for not having to look in the viewfinder of solid 90 minutes to control their shots.
Our engineer concluded that downconverters, particularly older models, often can not be trusted to judge the sharpness of focus and exposure. You must be very careful. We have some brand new downconverters Miranda and well when using the HD SDI output. At the bank in our facility engineering, we have found that using the SD (standard definition) SDI output, the results are better when the camera is set to 24P. Otherwise, the image tends to be soft and exposure that you see on the monitor is not the same as in the recorded image. The best sign came from the component outputs high definition in-camera.
HD BNC Cables
A couple of comments here. First, if you're using an HD SDI output and it needs to run more than ten meters of cable is necessary to use BNC cables that are made to carry signals HDCAM. These cables are thicker and capable of carrying more information. A BNC cable standard can not control the execution of the signal over several meters and can not see anything in the final surveillance.
Secondly, one of the cables HDCAM was about ten meters shorter than necessary. We tried to use a barrel for joining two BNC cables HD and do the job. So we had to use the SD (definition standard), composite video output in the Downconverter which, as explained above, is not ideal. To solve the problem of seeing images that appeared to be soft and overexposed, I kept talking to the camera operator with the comms system to ensure that examined the sharp image. As for the presentations, our engineer looked at the images via a HD waveform monitoring that were good.
HD LCD Monitors
In our gallery behind stage monitors used two models discussed in an earlier E-Zine: LH1700WE the Panasonic BT-17-inch LCD Monitor Sony LMD-9050 LCD monitor. This was the first time had worked personally with them. Both are high-definition displays and both are excellent. The use of these new displays, has eliminated the previous concerns that had on LCD monitors not being able to deliver the same picture quality as CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors. The colors were true, the image sharpness and brightness and contrast is consistent, regardless of the angle you were viewing monitors. They are also lighter and occupy less space. And do not forget, they are environmentally friendly.
Abstract
In short, if you are using the multi-F900 camera work, use the latest model of Downconverter, use BNC cable compatible HD Race long, by all means use new models of high definition LCD monitors. And, of course, see your attention! Keep it sharp.

We have a little more DVDs available to the interview I did with Paul Wheeler in high definition in December. For a free copy just e-mail me at cal@procamtv.com.
Until next time, happy shooting.
