HDTV is becoming a mainstay in U.S. households. The Consumer Electronics Association, said in June it expected to 16 million HDTVs sold in the U.S. this year, the total number of HDTVs sold here at 52.5 million euros.
To put this in perspective, television ratings specialist Nielsen Media Research estimates that in August last year for the 2006-2007 season television had 111.4 million television households in the United States. Even taking into account that some families have more of an HDTV, it is clear that TV HD has made the transition from a particular point of interest for a mainstay of television programming. Indeed, CEA forecasts that by the end of the year 36 percent of U.S. households will have an HDTV.
Digital signs, many of which are based on the same type of flat panel LCD and plasma technology as high definition televisions in U.S. households are afloat in this sea increasing first-hand experience with high definition and an increasing level of expectations.
The market experts using digital signage networks recognized the proliferation of high definition equipment home and work for upgrade their networks and content to high definition display. Why? Because that is what their customers with HDTVs say they want.
Last week, Nielsen Media Research, released the results of a survey of HDTV owners that revealed a wide gap between their attitudes towards the quality of the image they see on their screens and the amount of HDTV programming that can be seen. Asked to rate their satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 5 (with "5", which means "excellent" and "1", meaning "poor"), almost 48 percent of respondents said the quality of the image on their screens deserved a 5 "," while only 11.7 percent ranked their selection of HD programs at the same level.
By contrast, the qualifications and research organization found only 3 percent rated their quality of HDTV image as poor ( "1") or below average ( "2") while over 21 per cent considered their selection of HD programming to be a "1" or a "2".
I These results show how important it is for sellers not only to start getting serious about improving their digital signage networks in high definition, but also underscore how important it is for them to play high definition content on high definition screens that are part of the newly upgraded networks.
Much of marketing and publicity is confused with the creation of perceptions and feelings by current and potential clients that ignore the presence of each More and more high-definition televisions in the homes of Americans is at risk of being seen as old-fashioned, dated and out of step. In other words, almost 4 out 10 people searching in a digital signage network in a shop in this shopping season are already high definition televisions in their homes, does not mean as much as 40 per percent of potential customers may wonder why the quality of the presentations of digital signature that appears below to see their sets of house? How do these issues the impact of the perception of retailers who want to create?
And that's not all. The study by Nielsen Media explicitly stated the level of dissatisfaction among HDTV owners with the amount of HD programming available to them. The message to those responsible for digital signage networks is clear. No is sufficient to have high definition displays. The contents of the screen play has to be high definition, too.
To ignore the presence HDTV in U.S. households and the desire to see real HD programming is turning a blind eye to the environment in which digital signage networks exist. Doing so could be dangerous.
