MiniDV: Since its launch in 1966 miniDV has become the standard format for consumers and users semi-professional video camera and remains the standard other formats are judged. The tape format for better quality picture and PCM stereo CD quality and can record 60 minutes at best quality.

An obvious lack of video cameras with hard drive is once the hard drive is full images must be downloaded or written over. This can be a big problem unless you are on vacation for some time and away from your computer.
Memory card: Camcorder manufacturers have been providing a function of digital photographs with their video cameras for some time. The 1GB memory cards are normally only fill up quickly so even though the video is stored in MPEG4 format high compression. A good supply of cards are needed for any long recording.
