Copying a Hi8 8mm tape to DVD burner?

Hello, please help! Does anyone know if I can connect my Sony Dcr-TRV260 Digital8 camcorder in my Panasonic DMR-ES40VS VCR / DVD (descriptions below) and copy the Hi8 8mm tape found on the camcorder to a DVD? I'm an idiot when it comes to this and am trying to do a nice Christmas present for my parents. Yes you can. You can connect your audio / video from the camera and connect the audio / video in the DVD recorder.
